“I just wanna be free.” “I want to feel freedom.” “I’m sick of feeling trapped and miserable.”
Raise your hand if you’ve said or thought one of these before. It’s a topic that comes up A LOT over here in the Hungry for Happiness house. For me personally, I used to search the seven seas for freedom. Literally – I traveled to 33 countries in less than four years searching for freedom. But I still didn’t feel free. I felt well traveled and well educated, but I still felt like I was living within the cage of my mind. I still felt stuck. It was like I felt physically free but emotionally trapped.
So many of us desperately want to escape the noise of our minds. We want to escape
from the feelings in our bodies. We may not even be able to put a finger on WHY we want to be free, we just know that we want it with every fiber of our being. Here’s the truth though…
The true freedom we desire exists within us, not outside of us.
The freedom we crave is the stillness in our mind, the calmness in our heart, and the peace within our body. Start to explore and identify the things that make you feel free. Maybe it’s:
Alone time…
Breathwork…
Meditation…
Being in nature…
Taking an impromptu day trip without an agenda…
Start tapping into what makes you feel free, what makes you come alive – and then make the time and space for more of that within your life. Freedom is yours to have, sweet soul, you just need to create it for yourself.
